Campaigning against waste today covers a nebula of initiatives in full expansion, which circulate between spaces, inspire each other, and are based on a culture of social networks and the idea of a commitment to action. From a sociological survey conducted between 2016 and 2019 for Ademe, this text examines the ways now promoted by anti-waste activists, partly as part of the legacy of a “concrete ecologism”—whose pioneering experiments have accompanied the development of sorting and recycling. It shows how the economic register of action has nowadays become more pronounced among activists who value the individual as a solution as such, allied to entrepreneurship and the creation of continuity between the domestic and economic spheres.
