Considering digital culture from a spatial perspective opens up the physical library to a multiplicity of other dimensions. To what extent can we transpose the metaphor of the intellectual pathways taken by users within the physical library to the library’s digital avatar? Taking the Gallica digital library platform as a case study, this investigation asks whether and how we can reconsider the use of digital technology, and digital libraries in particular, as the traversing of space.
