This article explores French bullying prevention associations created by former victims or their parents. We analyze the reasons that lead association members to volunteer in a prevention activity and how they are able to transform their past experiences with bullying into expertise recognized by public authorities. We also study the ways in which volunteers use social media, and especially Twitter, to carry out their prevention activities and to respond to the information needs of those who are confronted with bullying.
