Back to the Future. The First Years of the Post-Socialist Agricultural Transition in the Ex-GDR

Par : Type de matériel : TexteTexteLangue : français Détails de publication : 2012. Sujet(s) : Ressources en ligne : Abrégé : This paper is a testimony. It recounts the intellectual adventure of the author in Berlin and in the Mecklembourgian country during the early 90’s. At this time, the ruling elite planned a univocal pathway for the people of Central Europe. Based both on a fieldwork conducted in the former GDR and the analysis of the debates undertaken within the Marc Bloch Center, in Berlin, we give an account of the difficulties we encountered while analysing the social processes known as the « transition processes ». Calling into question the validity of this concept that results from the breackdown of the Socialist regime, we confront the empirical data collected at micro-level with the evolution of scientific debates conducted in broader contexts, notably those concerning the German unification and the future of the former socialist countries.
