RésuméLe supplice chinois (ling-chi) : mythe raciste d’un Occident nécrophile en quête de sensations fortes où perdure la fonction liturgique de l’homicide judiciaire que décrit Foucault pour l’Ancien Régime. On le trouve chez Mirbeau, qui inspire l’ Homme aux Rats de Freud, où prévaut l’horreur de la jouissance. On le trouve surtout chez Bataille, que hante sa vie durant, une photo du ling-chi, où culmine la jouissance de l’horreur : l’extase de la fange. Chen-Chieh jen, qui est passé maître dans l’archive-fiction, a fait du supplice une vidéo mémorable (2002) où triomphe le corps du despote : désir machinique et mirage oriental (Deleuze et Guattari), qui renvoient l’Occident, par un jeu de miroirs, à ses fantasmes coloniaux, où l’extase est la mort, grande et petite. The Chinese torture ( ling-chi)is the racist myth of a necrophiliac West in search of thrills which resurrect the liturgical function of the Ancien Régime’s judicial homicide described by Foucault. It can be found with Mirbeau, who inspired Freud’s Man with Rats, which promotes the horror of jouissance, and even more with Bataille, who has been haunted throughout his life by a photograph of the ling-chi which exalts the jouissance of horror: ecstasy of the gutter. Chen Chieh-jen, who is a master of archive-fiction, turns the torture into a memorable video (2002) where the despot’s body triumphs (Deleuze and Guattari) : mechanical desire and oriental mirage which send Western ideology back through a set of mirrors to its colonial fantasies, in which ecstasy means death (great and little), and vice versa...
