Behavioral Diversity of Born Global Companies: Validation of a Typology

Par : Contributeur(s) : Type de matériel : TexteTexteLangue : français Détails de publication : 2013. Sujet(s) : Ressources en ligne : Abrégé : This article examines the heterogeneity of born global companies by proposing a typology validated by French data. Literature on the process theory of internationalization (PTI) and international entrepreneurship (IE) explain the diversity in behavior of born global companies. Our empirical results show that a higher level of internationalization is generally associated with rapid development, both in terms of sales and in the number of geographic areas targeted. In addition, these firms tend to pursue a growth strategy based on developing their geographic presence at a global rather than a local level. Methods used to enter foreign markets are mainly those requiring marginal control, except for the firms of the born global type.
