The age period from around one to four years is crucial for the acquisition of oral language, which occurs in children through the integration of three central domains: lexicon, grammar, and emerging pragmatics. However, there are few tools in French that make it possible to evaluate or analyze language development during early childhood, and few studies that provide an overview of this period. This is the purpose of the DLPF (development of language production in French) reference study conducted in the three language domains with 517 children aged from 18 to 42 months. We made this study available to the public through a very comprehensive book in Archives ouvertes HAL (Bassano, Labrell, & Bonnet 2020). The present article aims to provide a synthesis of this work.
