RésuméSavoir identifier les composants de son avantage compétitif afin de gérer les risques qui pèsent sur sa durabilité est une tâche difficile. Cet article présente un système de cartographie qui a été développé avec et pour des managers opérationnels. Il leur permet de visualiser immédiatement le statut de leur avantage compétitif et donc de prioriser les actions essentielles à son maintien ou renforcement. L’article s’adresse à des managers confirmés qui recherchent des outils de pilotage leur permettant de réagir rapidement et même d’anticiper les problèmes qui pourraient menacer leur position concurrentielle. Il sera aussi intéressant pour les chercheurs qui s’intéressent aux concepts de position concurrentielle et de management des risques afin de leur permettre d’orienter leur recherche sur les facteurs explicatifs les plus appropriés.

Visualising the combination of resources and competencies to optimize risks and create a lasting competitive advantageKnowing how to identify the components of one’s competitive advantage so that one can manage the risks weighing on its sustainability is a difficult task. This article presents a mapping system developed with and for operations managers. It enables them to immediately visualize the status of their competitive advantage and thus to prioritize essential actions to maintain or strengthen it. The article is written for experienced managers seeking tools that will enable them to react swiftly and even to anticipate problems that could threaten their competitive position. It will also be of interest to researchers studying the concepts of competitive position and risk management, as it will help them to orient their research towards the most appropriate explanatory factors.
