Past death

Freud writes that knowledge of death is impossible. The “Thing” that looks at us, says Lacan. The first limit-experience is birth, says Zaltzman. Having an NDE in a coma is a reactivation of the original chaos (Aulagnier), temporarily putting the unconscious “in the open air” (Soler). We assume that it is a question of restoring the psychic functions, once the risk of death has been averted. If birth stems from the cessation of fetal life, we deduce that the revival of the psyche is reestablished from this origin, associating pre/natal trauma with the subject’s recovery. This anxiety-provoking and ecstatic entanglement is projected onto death in the NDE fantasy.
