Un rappel historique des conditions de formation et de titularisation des personnels est suivi de la présentation des tendances, études et expérimentations actuelles en Europe et dans le monde. Une redéfinition des structures éducatives au travers des modalités de la fonction enseignante et des structures éducatives est possible. 

What connection is there between the development of Western societies, that of education systems, and that of educational staff: a set of duties, or a force for individual and collective development? A historical review of the conditions under which personnel are trained and qualified is followed by a presentation of current trends, studies, and experiments in Europe and around the world. There is potential for a redefinition of educational structures by way of the modalities of the teaching function and educational structures.
