Progress or alienation, what do the New Ways of Working bring?

Par : Contributeur(s) : Type de matériel : TexteTexteLangue : français Détails de publication : 2020. Sujet(s) : Ressources en ligne : Abrégé : The promises of a society based upon a dynamic of continuous progress have not been held. This process of progress has contributed to reinforcing our contemptuous and damaging ignorance of life and our subjective essence, plunging individuals into ever more instrumental relationships and confronting our society with huge ecological, social, and economic challenges. It is in this context that New Ways of Working (NWoW) appear, carried by new promises and enthusiastic discourses: here comes the era of freedom-form companies, based upon the collaboration and the autonomy of employees for whom NWoW finally provides a fulfilling professional environment and source of happiness. Do these NWoW finally offer a collective and individual perspective of hope in our postmodernist society, allowing us to free ourselves from constraints and alienation at work? The critical reading that we offer allows us to understand how NWoW come from the same thought processes and paradigm as the founding theories of management, and how they seem to further reinforce society’s ills rather than bringing new and credible alternatives. However, we no longer have the luxury of time. The extent of the collective damage to the entire social fabric and the harm to the psychic structure of individuals opens up an urgent debate about the future of humankind.
