In the case of AI, technological advancements lead to technological unemployment, resulting in human beings having to perform residual tasks, the ones that AI cannot yet perform. In this paper, we call this vision into question by focusing on the human capacity to adapt. To this end, we draw on history and philosophy to show the nature of the relationship between man and technology, identifying the mechanisms through which man can harness technology. This leads us to deduce that the “offensive” approach to meeting the social needs of humans is necessary with regard to technology. On this basis, we conclude that researchers and companies need to take into account the social needs that influence the way in which humans take hold of AI, as they have taken hold of all previous innovations.
