This article is the result of interviews with young social workers and their supervisors on the role of emotions, values, and ethics in their professional practice. To stay the course in this field of work requires a discussion on the handling of emotions and the meaning given to the support duties through an ethical reflection on taking action in everyday life. Today, work groups need spaces for ethical discussion and individuals need continued training. These two preventive approaches are essential factors for staying the course in this field of work.
