Why do we want to put relationships and recognition (back) at the heart of social work?

Par : Type de matériel : TexteTexteLangue : français Détails de publication : 2022. Sujet(s) : Ressources en ligne : Abrégé : The recognition of the people being supported by social workers is linked to the recognition of the social workers themselves; of their professional values and, more broadly, of social justice among human beings. This recognition requires a “bottom-up” approach starting with demand stemming from others, as opposed to a “top-down” approach starting from political mandates for and/or on others. For if social work has an obligation of duty centered on relationships, on listening and speaking, it does not have any obligation based on results, as more and more governing institutuons and political leaders want it to have. In the turmoil of the archipelagos generated by managerial ideology, social workers are suffering like the canaries in the mines that feel the blast coming, calling for the (re)creation of society, “rediscovering the individual through the association they form with others” to (re)build a common world together.
