In viticulture, the challenges of generational renewal linked to the installation-transmission processes of farms are part of an uncertain economic environment The approach is exploratory and based on a collection of quantitative and qualitative data from winegrowers and institutional actors in the Rhône Valley. The authors seek to better understand the conditions, motivations, and difficulties encountered by sellers and buyers in the transmission process of wine-growing farms. The sellers do not appear sufficiently prepared, and mention difficulties to identify a buyer or a transfer project that meets their expectations. Young farmers highlight difficulties which could lead some of them to stop their installation project. (JEL: Q13, Q15, R12).
