From career anchors theory to organizational careers foresight

This article focuses on the future of organizational careers in the context of breakdown of the traditional social contract. The objective is to improve our understanding of the expectations of employees in relation to their careers in order to provide a new interpretative framework for companies which encounter difficulties in recruiting and retaining their employees. Through an innovative approach which is based on 58 interviews, 183 questionnaires, and 1 focus group, we develop 5 possible scenarios. These scenarios highlight a number of expectations on the part of employees, which are all opportunities to renegotiate the social contract.
