Media influence on COVID-19 vaccine decision-making

Par : Contributeur(s) : Type de matériel : TexteTexteLangue : français Détails de publication : 2022. Sujet(s) : Ressources en ligne : Abrégé : In the context of the COVID-19 health crisis, we sought to identify the factors that determine the positioning of the French public in favor of or against vaccination. Using an internet-based survey, we explore here more specifically the links between attitudes toward vaccination and media use patterns. Our results indicate that people who are in favor of vaccination have very different media practices from those who are against it. Indeed, it appears that people who do not wish to be vaccinated do not trust the traditional media and generally get their information from the internet and often from alternative information sites. By doing so, these people would be more exposed to fake news and would be more likely to believe it, which would tend to reinforce their distrust of conventional medicine and their decision not to be vaccinated.
