Adossé à une enquête originale menée auprès de 1 258 chef·fes d’exploitation avant les élections européennes de juin 2024, cet article éclaire la singularité mais aussi la fragmentation croissante de l’électorat agricole. Si les agriculteurs demeurent un isolat électoral identifiable, marqué par une forte participation et un tropisme à droite, leurs attitudes se révèlent de plus en plus hétérogènes. L’analyse met en évidence une tripartition entre un pôle écologiste socio-altermondialiste, un pôle conservateur identitaire et agrarien et un pôle libéral pro-européen, qui reflète les tensions internes d’un groupe professionnel traversé par des attentes divergentes à l’égard de l’Union européenne, de la Politique agricole commune (PAC) et de son avenir.

Based on an original survey conducted with 1,258 farm managers ahead of the June 2024 European elections, this article sheds light on both the distinctiveness and the growing fragmentation of the agricultural electorate. While farmers remain an identifiable electoral isolate, characterized by high turnout and a rightward leaning, their attitudes are increasingly heterogeneous. The analysis highlights a threefold division: a socio-alterglobalist ecological stance, a conservative identity-based and agrarian stance, and a liberal pro-European stance. This tripartition reflects the internal tensions of a professional group marked by divergent expectations regarding the European Union, the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) and its own future.
