INTERCEPTION is a unique and innovative program designed to create a new healthcare pathway focused on personalized cancer prevention and early detection for individuals at a high risk of cancer. It includes: i) the identification of individuals at a higher risk of cancer; ii) information and education of these individuals regarding risk-adapted prevention; iii) the creation of a personalized prevention plan (PPP), aligned with individuals’ choices and preferences, including its continuous adjustment according to examinations of the patient, their medical history, and developments in scientific knowledge; and iv) rapid treatment in the event of suspicion or diagnosis of cancer. The PPP is implemented by the general practitioner. The overall aim of this plan is to reduce the incidence of advanced cancer in individuals at a high risk, as well as cancer morbidity, mortality, and the costs of medical treatment. It also allows for the development of high-quality research in cancer prevention, the early detection of cancer, and research into digital health. A national network of INTERCEPTION centers is currently being set up throughout France.
