The Canary Islands, final destination of the Western African route, has been the stage of a new “migration crisis” in 2020, as the general circumstances overlapped with the Covid-19 emergency crisis. This article looks at how the pandemic context and sanitary crisis have led to extreme practices of confinement and isolation of displaced, vulnerable population. The article analyzes the new government reception system and high light sits induced mechanisms of control.
