This text concerns the transformation of the desire for a child of a man who has just learned that he is suffering from a neurological genetic disease, a communicable disease with a 50 percent risk rate. This takes place within the context of marital psychotherapy. He wants his wife to have a boy to replace him when he dies. Thanks to the personal attention and interpretation they receive, he can develop in parallel his failing relationship with his own sick father and his aim to have a disease-free child , allowing the restoration of his own narcissism necessary for access to an object’s fatherhood: a girl will make them father and mother.
