The body of Narcissus. A brief note of inquiry. . .

Par : Type de matériel : TexteTexteLangue : français Détails de publication : 2014. Sujet(s) : Ressources en ligne : Abrégé : From the naturalistic and ordinary observation of a little girl who takes narcissistic pleasure from the three stages of her purely functional elation (her psychomotor control, her imaginary internal pleasure “to be grown up,” and her pleasure to feel admired in her mother’s eyes and in other’s eyes), the author tackles the issue of the body and its links with the psyche at a narcissistic level. From focusing on the specular aspect of the different versions of the myth of Narcissus and of the theory of narcissism, especially Lacan’s theory about the “mirror stage,” we are reminded of the huge shadow spread by Henri Wallon’s research on the issue and the idea that a theory of psychic development cannot ignore the relationship to the other, and what is at stake in the underlying bodily sensations.
