This is a reflection on the phenomenon of fanaticism based on the story of a young boy, the course of whose life was shaken by a series of destabilizing events. Despite his intellectual ingenuity, his jovial character, and his ability to cope with various traumatic situations, this young man finally let himself be engulfed by the Salafist movement, which saw him as a person in distress, in search of reference points and self-identity. This illustration reflects the complexity of the factors (psychological, socioeconomic, etc.) involved in the “manufacturing” of Jihadists and the recruitment of individuals.
