The article shows that (1) pronoun switching reveals an in-depth knowledge of conflicts within the address system, and (2) loss is not the same for T as for V forms. T disappears when it loses domain ; V is threatened when an increase in its domain leads to a loss in its particularity. The limited domain of u is thus not a threat but rather a factor tending to support its survival. It is concluded that the pronoun u is not at risk.
