In 1974, the Popular Unity coalition and the Chilean coup were of particular importance for Greece’s democratic transition and the legalization of the communist left, banned since 1936. This article aims to analyze the political and cultural process—namely the development of Third Worldism and Guevarism—which led to the adoption of PU as a pivotal benchmark of the Greek anti-dictatorial movement.
