Max Rabinoff was a Russian American impresario, who built his career on his position of cultural broker between the United States and the Russian world. As an expert on Russia, he contributed to developing US-Russian business by spreading his knowledge. Fond of dance and opera, he also organized many Russian artists’ tours. Rather than limiting himself to presenting works of art, he also promoted knowledge transfers and stimulated American creation. His activities proved how transnational artistic circulations contribute to new forms of national expression.
