From the outbreak of French colonization up to the economic crisis in 1912, companies from several European countries settled in Côte d’Ivoire. The setting up of a hierarchical system and the choice of assistants were a few organizational aspects that rationalized their profits. But the weakness of the commercial diversification, the exorbitant overheads, and the lack of control over their management meant that many of them ended up failing.
