Beginning at the end of 2018 and lasting for several months, a deep social crisis shook France. There is no doubt that a deep unease among part of the middle class was then expressed through the Yellow Vests revolt. However, the original forms of action—some of which were not free of urban violence—were also surprising. One of the most symbolic actions was the occupation of hundreds of roundabouts, which slowed down or even blocked access to many shopping areas. Yellow Vests disrupted the functioning of supply chains by restricting their flow. This article shows how “logistical norms” were violated through micro-disruptions, suggesting an original interpretation of the vulnerability of supply chains in relation to crowd behavior.
