In service of “The Profession”

Par : Contributeur(s) : Type de matériel : TexteTexteLangue : français Détails de publication : 2013. Sujet(s) : Ressources en ligne : Abrégé : This article questions the edification of borders between journalists and communicators in an agricultural world monitored by many organizations. More associates than rivals, journalists and communicators strengthen their proximity through the nature of the professional news since both cooperate in the news co-production process where access to sources is highly controlled. However, attempts at independence have been made by the portion of the journalists closest to the generalist press. This movement to claim professional territory is embodied in the creation of a professional association like the Association française des journalistes agricoles (AFJA) or the launch of a training program for agricultural journalism in a school recognized by the profession. These initiatives have been constrained by the professional environment. The agricultural world limits recourse to the generalist model while allowing much easier movement between the two professions thanks to shared knowledge and know-how. While the question of journalist specialization has often been linked to the generalist press, the development of specific rules for professional excellence and distinction argues for a special status in research and for establishing this professional press as an object of scientific study.
