How is it possible to understand the agitation that is so frequently described by parents and teachers? In the framework of university research, one hundred randomly-selected children coming from different schools in the French-speaking part of Switzerland passed the CAT. The mean age of the children was 7 years. The analysis of mental functioning of a group of agited children compared to a group of unagitated children suggests several paths of reflection as to the nature of this agitation.
