Scrambling to the top: Women and executive power in the United States
Type de matériel :

More and more women are reaching high-level positions within the three branches of the federal government. However, such a trend needs to be assessed with caution: women are still chronically underrepresented, particularly at the cabinet level and within the executive branch. Positions that deal with sovereign issues (defense, justice, etc.) remain largely out of women’s reach and, as a consequence, so does the presidency. This article assesses the permanence of traditional gender representations and the way in which they prevent any possible alternative vision of executive power, as well as the impact of this on presidential elections.
