The Iranian nuclear issue and US-Iran rapprochement

The Iran nuclear deal, signed on July 14, 2015 between Iran and the P5+1 (the United States, Russia, China, France, the United Kingdom, and Germany) is a major success, even though it was difficult to reach and despite the fact that it does not solve all the problems between Iran and the international community, in particular the West. It freezes the Iranian nuclear program for at least fifteen years and it lifts most of the international sanctions against Tehran. Moreover, it shows the US and Iranian diplomacies under a rather positive light and proves that they can work together and even obtain results. It therefore suggests that a rapprochement between the two countries is not impossible in the long run, but also that such a rapprochement will not be easy to reach.
