Entrepreneurship is a broad field of study for academics, due to its close relationship with wealth generation, employment, and well-being. For this reason, governments seek to harness this activity among citizens. On the other hand, entrepreneurs face challenges and problems that reduce the benefits that they can generate in their organizations or in the community at large. The objective of this work is to determine the challenges that cooperative ventures face in Mexico City, with the intention of identifying areas of opportunity to strengthen this activity. The sample used to produce this publication consists of 94 (informal) organizations that participated in a cooperative promotion program promoted by the local government. The results describe the different factors that impede the growth of cooperative organizations in Mexico City in their early years.
