The Protest Vote in Transition: Advocacy Parties, Government Parties, and Anti-Party Sentiment
Type de matériel :
63
The recurrent protest vote over the last twenty years is generally viewed as the success of populist or marginal parties. This vote seems to effectively represent a new electoral stage of political modernity. However, the party system on the whole is effected by the protest phenomenon whatever the electoral environment. The political parties benefit at large electorally from this development. Therefore, this vote appears to be an antiparty sentiment born not of a criticism of the democratic regime but of the way it operates.
