Differentiated forms of drug use at work: The case of restaurants, bars and building sites

Based on empirical research, this paper describes and explains the various types of alcohol, cocaine and cannabis use at work by employees of restaurants, bars and building sites. Consumption of drugs in these work environments are related to collective and individual factors, which are explained. Thus, our analyses will investigate organizational conditions (for example, night work in bars and restaurants and physical difficulties of work in building sites), the social and cultural dynamics of psychoactive substances, their physical and chemical proprieties, and, finally, the social characteristics of employees, their personal and professional paths, accounting for their age and their generation.
