The Evolution of the Concepts of Illness and Healing in Mental Health and the Work of Psychoanalytic Healing
Type de matériel :
33
As forseen, the basic concepts of disease and recovery in mental health have become obsolete during the latter part of the 20th century. The author shows how the DSM, now internationally recognized as the unavoidable psycho-medical reference, has brought deep changes in the philosophy and practice of psychiatry. The medical project now seeks to attain perfect health. Finally the author describes the task of recovery in psychoanalysis, where the aim is not a state of well-being and adaptedness, but rather the freedom to live one’s own life.
