The profession of sociocultural and leisure activity leader, which originally corresponded to a vocation and volunteering, appeared as a real profession since the 1960s, then became highly professional since the beginning of the 1980s. Research on film clubs and cinematographic training organized by the French Education League in Midi-Pyrénées from 1960 to the mid-1990s brings to light iconographic sources archived at the “Cinémathèque de Toulouse”. These show how an un-famous profession, which is culturally dominated by commercial cinema, elitist cinephilia, and “Art et Essai” cinema, develops its own means of communication, in order to give visibility not only to its specific skills, but also to its commitments. Therefore, the posters and films produced during film training courses highlight the values of secular popular education.
