As a cooperative, a financial cooperative aims to maximise the satisfaction of its members/customers whereas the objective of a conventional firm is to maximise profits. Is the job-seeker affected by the firm’s aims when applying for a position? If this is the case, is customer satisfaction a more attractive objective than profit maximisation? This article presents the findings of a study carried out among students at a business school. The results confirm the hypothesis that a firm’s aims have an impact on the organisation’s attractiveness and that a cooperative’s objectives are more attractive than a traditional bank’s objectives.
