Teaching after a professional experience: Contribution to an analysis of mobilities and representations of the profession

In France, the pathways to public primary and secondary education taken by teachers previously engaged in a professional activity are poorly known, even though their numbers have increased in recent years. Based on a survey conducted among public sector teachers, some of whom have previous professional experience, this article analyzes the characteristics of their former occupations, their motivations, their professional projects and their representations of the value of the teaching profession, which are not independent of the characteristics of their past working life.
