This study is aimed at initiating discussion on the impact characteristics of the Chairman of the board of directors on the effectiveness of the Board of Directors (BOD). Using the binomial logistic regression, we tested the influence of fourteen predictors of effectiveness. Under analysis, only five variables significantly explained this phenomenon. In coping the duration of the Chairman of the Board of Directors position to ten years and, in moderation of their appointment by the government, the results encourage the overhaul of corporate governance in the context of Cameroon.
