Companies in the Restoration of historical buildings sector and regional development

This article provides elements from economics of culture to analyze the historical heritage in Mexico, highlights the role of business restoration of built heritage, given that the enhancement produces a set of local cultural goods and services that competes in the global markets. In this way, the heritage becomes a competitive advantage for Mexico and a potential element of local development with global links. This analysis leads to a proposed outline for public policy that affects inter-value chain through public investment in preservation, rehabilitation, restoration and reuse of the heritage.
