Collective beliefs: An indeterminate concept

Collective beliefs appear to be a classical topic of sociology and anthropology. Nevertheless, the notion of “collective beliefs” still remains widely indeterminate in spite of the multiple theories produced to analyze them. To understand this paradox, it is necessary to return to the concept itself, to break it down in its multiple possible meanings in order to highlight the limits of the reductionist attitude that still prevails today within sociology and anthropology.
