Ressources en ligne : Abrégé : By analyzing clubs’ individual behavior, this research suggests a typology based on their level of budget constraint, induced by the capacity of their shareholders to fund losses. It is therefore possible to conclude that only a very small number of clubs operate under “soft” budget constraint (SBC) which is characteristic of “bad” governance (Andreff 2009). This research also shows that clubs adapt their behavior to the requirements of the sector-based regulations that apply to them, transferring a share of responsibility for the governance of these organizations to the latter.
