The present study is interested in the concrete use, in a situation, of human resource management tools by cooperatives. More specifically, the authors analyze the process of individual evaluation interviews in a French worker cooperative (SCOP). The authors show the practices by which the cooperators succeed in diverting, reappropriating, and overturning a tool that is by nature individualizing and hierarchical, so as to put it in fine at the service of the collectivistic and democratic culture of their organization.
