In order to explore the sources involved in determining what makes the identity of a psychoanalyst, the author successively studies the functions specific to this identity, the necessary conditions for their effectiveness, the retroactive dynamics of the transpositions and identifications that enable their temporal emergence, and finally, the pole of reference : the value conflict between love of truth and recognition of reality, a conflict involved in a basal configuration that combines the experiences resulting from the work necessary to produce the libidinal economy and acoustic memory traces. It is on the basis of this configuration that the functions involved in producing the sublimatory destiny of the analytical profession are regularly relibidinised.
