Origins are here considered in relation to the concept of retroaction, without, however, ever being completely absorbed by the latter. The impossibility to translate an initial dimension of one's own history and its traumatic nature that cannot be worked over, paradoxically indicate a point of certitude for one's identity. The force of this anchoring thus reveals the work of the subject, work that is particularly evident in the psychotic dimension. One can suggest that the origin only appears when the processes of transcription fail, when symbolic reassumption shows itself to be ineffective and history becomes destiny.
