Pierre-Charles Le Monnier (1715-1799), a contemporary of Jean-Paul Grandjean de Fouchy, was a very active astronomer and academician.We mention here his admission to the French Academy of sciences, his connection with British astronomy, the main subjects of his observations, and the reactions that some of his works have given rise to, in particular from D’Alembert, César-François Cassini de Thury, Alexis-Claude Clairaut, Nicolas-Louis de La Caille, and Jérôme de Lalande.
