This study compares attitudes about love among native-Portuguese adolescents and adolescents living in Portugal who come from the five PALOP (Portuguese-speaking) countries in Africa—Angola, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique, and St. Thomas and Prince Islands. The general picture that emerges shows many similarities in this regard among the ethnocultural groups. There are no significant differences between native Portuguese and native PALOP adolescents regarding love styles in terms of social rules and a lower emotional tone. This did not confirm the study’s premise. However, the data confirm the study’s second and third hypotheses: significant differences between Portuguese PALOP adolescents in love styles with a more intense emotional tone were not expected, and the results confirm this. Male adolescents were more playful and agapic than female adolescents. The importance of the intercultural study of love is discussed.
