International Adoption in Catalonia (Spain):

Par : Type de matériel : TexteTexteLangue : français Détails de publication : 2009. Sujet(s) : Ressources en ligne : Abrégé : The aim of the study is to understand the process and the issues of the family integration stage of a group of international adoption families living in Catalonia (Spain). The model “Family Adjustment and Adaptation Response” (FAAR) was used as the theoretical background of this study. The sample was composed of 30 families of children having been adopted for at least three years. The data were collected using semistructured interviews that had already been content-analysed using the “NVivo” software. The results show that, although the literature considers these families at risk, family integration was successful and brought a high level of parental satisfaction. Three kinds of family development presenting several different characteristics were identified. The results lead to socioeducational proposals intended to improve the wellbeing of adopted children as well as that of their adoptive families.
