The Fable of the Donkey Skin

This study focuses on the impact of parent-child separation, particularly the separation between a child and an opposite-sex parent. We address this problem in the context of incest, more specifically the psychological reality of incest, beginning with a psychoanalytic investigation of two versions of the “donkey-skin” fairy-tale. The comparative analysis of the two stories shows what is involved in an incestuous relationship, and how the incest taboo has an impact on the process on a child’s psychological individuation. Our contribution to this issue is an attempt to analyze the conditions of the humanization of individuals.
